Chestnut honey

Italian chestnut honey is made from the flowers of the chestnut plant – it is rich in mineral salts and  characterized by a dark amber color, with reddish-greenish tones.

Chestnut honey is one of the most consumed honeys in Italy and it is also one of the best known and appreciated homegrown varieties abroad. Its taste is sweet, with a strong bitter aftertaste; aroma and flavor are strong, woody, with hints of leather, smoke and chestnut. All features that make it perfect to accompany autumn recipes.

Chestnut honey is among the most used in combination with cheeses with an intense flavor such as pecorino, pit cheeses and gorgonzola; it is also excellent in the preparation of desserts. Try it with walnuts.
